Husband and wife team Stephen and Jennifer Robichaux started out as pure baking enthusiasts before realizing they could turn their hobby into a viable business opportunity. They imagined a creative, innovative, and uniquely southern bakery.
SCORE mentors stepped in to walk them through the process of starting their venture. In the company's first year, the pair was able to move from a home kitchen setup to a dedicated workspace clients can visit by appointment. Their baked goods, including their signature iced sugar cookies, ignite the smiles of customers everywhere.
Sweet Robichaux moved to a commercial kitchen to increase baking capacity and fill larger orders for corporate and special-occasion clients. A handcrafted salted caramel sauce has been added to a menu of classic and quirky cookies.
Sweet Robichaux provided pastries, cookies and candies for a gathering following the 2012 SCORE Awards Gala in New Orleans. The business was chosen as a winner of the Sam’s Club Holiday Cheer initiative in December 2012, receiving a $1,000 grant and a trip to Dallas to attend a high-speed growth marketing workshop hosted by SCORE.
Stephen and Jennifer understood their product and marketing direction, but SCORE mentors helped Stephen and Jennifer focus their ideas and build a solid foundation on which to build their bakery. They worked with mentors to develop a business plan, and received guidance for incorporating as an LLC in the early stages of starting Sweet Robichaux.
